Half-Life eDPI and cm/360

In Half-Life one mouse count turns the view 0.022 degrees at sensitivity 1. The sensitivity is set in the mouse options or the console, called sensitivity.

The table shows the sensitivity and the 360° distance behind some round eDPI values at 800 DPI. Use it to see how far your mouse really moves at your setting.

The same Half-Life eDPI at a different mouse DPI

If you change your mouse DPI, change your in-game sensitivity the other way to keep the same aim. A higher DPI needs a lower sensitivity, and a lower DPI needs a higher one.

Your Half-Life eDPI in other games

An eDPI of 1200 in Half-Life (sensitivity 1.5 at 800 DPI) turns the view as far as an eDPI of 1200 in CS2, an eDPI of 377.1 in Valorant, an eDPI of 4000 in Overwatch 2, an eDPI of 4752.5 in Fortnite, all at 800 DPI. That is why eDPI numbers from different games cannot be compared directly: the same aim has a different eDPI in each game.

Questions

How do I calculate my Half-Life eDPI?

Multiply your Half-Life in-game sensitivity by your mouse DPI. For example, a sensitivity of 1.5 at 800 DPI is an eDPI of 1200.

Is my Half-Life eDPI the same as my eDPI in another game?

Only if the two games share a yaw. Half-Life uses 0.022 degrees per count, so it matches Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends and the other Source games, but not Valorant, which uses 0.07.

What cm/360 does an eDPI of 800 give in Half-Life?

An eDPI of 800 (sensitivity 1 at 800 DPI) is 52 cm of mouse travel for a full 360 degree turn in Half-Life.

What is a good Half-Life eDPI?

There is no single right value. It depends on the game, your mouse pad, how you hold the mouse and what you play. Use the cm/360 beside your eDPI to compare yourself with others, and change it in small steps until aiming feels controlled.

Do I need to change my Half-Life sensitivity if I change my mouse DPI?

Yes, if you want the same aim. Double the DPI and halve the in-game sensitivity, and your eDPI and your cm/360 stay the same. The table on this page shows the numbers.
